Clifton Leadership – Inspiring the Leaders of Tomorrow!
At Clifton Primary School, we believe that leadership is about much more than simply having a title – it is about taking responsibility, showing initiative and making a positive difference to our school community. Our exciting Clifton Leadership Programme provides children with meaningful opportunities to develop their confidence, independence, teamwork and leadership skills, whilst playing an active role in improving school life.
To become a Pupil Leader, children are invited to complete a formal application form, outlining their strengths, personal qualities and examples of how they have demonstrated responsibility and teamwork. These applications are carefully reviewed by school leaders, who shortlist and select pupils for each leadership role. This process gave children valuable experience of applying for a position, reflecting on their skills and understanding the responsibilities that come with leadership.
Our Pupil Leaders work alongside staff across the school, gaining first-hand experience of how different school systems operate and how their contributions can make a real difference.
Our Pupil Leadership Teams:
- Sports Leaders: Promoting physical activity, encouraging participation in sport and supporting the organisation of sporting events, competitions and activities across the school.
- Library Leaders: Helping to maintain and organise our school library, encouraging children to develop a love of reading and ensuring our library remains a welcoming and inspiring place for everyone.
- Reading Ambassadors: Championing reading for pleasure, recommending books, sharing their enthusiasm for literature and inspiring other pupils to become confident, enthusiastic readers.
- Safeguarding Squad: Working alongside our safeguarding team to promote safety, kindness and wellbeing, helping pupils understand how to keep themselves and others safe.
- Assessment Team: Supporting school leaders to help distribute assessment papers across the school
- Digital Devices Leaders: Helping to promote the responsible use of technology, supporting the organisation and care of school devices and encouraging positive digital habits.
- Office Support Leaders: Gaining valuable insight into the daily running of our school office by assisting with age-appropriate administrative responsibilities, delivering important information and supporting communication across the school.
- Lunchtime Support Leaders: Working alongside lunchtime staff to encourage other children to use the salad bar and return their plates and cutlery in a orderly manner
Our Pupil Leadership Programme is an integral part of our commitment to continually improving the experience of every child at Clifton. By working closely with staff and taking ownership of meaningful responsibilities, our pupils gain valuable insight into how a school operates, how decisions are made and how different teams work together to create a positive learning environment for all children.
